Today's Alps add-on sees Austrian skiing legend and all round good guy...FRANZ KLAMMER joining our YOYWYW banner.
Franz dominated the slopes during the seventies and was Ski Sunday's favourite son when I was growing up back in the day. Klammer won a gold medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics in his homeland when he pipped former champion Bernhard Russi by 0.33 seconds in Innsbruck.
The 'Kaiser' as Klammer was known was never a silky skier but he certainly wasn't afraid to take risks and was the undoubted Downhill master. Klammer retired at 30 but will long be remembered as that mad Austrian man in the yellow suit who just went for it. Long live The 'Klammer Express'...
